- 1 Week One / Week Date:7/10/2019-11/10/2019
This is the first week of this course. There are three type classes now, which is English for Business, Organizational Behavior and Postgraduate Skills. We are focusing in grammar in the English class this week, also did an English test which include listening, reading and writing to see everyone’s level. In the organizational behavior class, we are just learning the meaning of this subject now. Postgraduate skills class will teach us the skills we will need in the future study. We also had self-introduction to the each class and our teacher told us the plans of this whole course.
- 2 Week Two/Week Date:14/10/2019-18/10/2019
This following week we started to write the assessment about Organisational Behaviour Individual Report. We were learning different Organisational Culture like The Culture Web and Charles Handy four main types. And using the theory and examples in the assessment. This part is my weakness so I am still struggling about it. In addition, we were practice a lot Reading in English class , improving the speed and the methods of how to do the Reading test . I am reading English books besides the class so that can help me with the Reading Skills. Also, the Postgraduate class helped us to figured out that which learning styles we are.
- 3 Week Three/Week Date: 21/10/2019-25/10/2019
In week three, we were focus on writing ,reading and listing practice for the Mid-team exam in the English class. That would help us to prepare better for the exam. And from the class I noticed which part is my weakness so I can practice more after class. In the Organisation Behavior class, the main topic we learned is Organisation Structure. Extend to Functional structure, Geographical Structure, Product Structure, Customer-based Structure and Matrix Structure. From that we can understand the link between Organisation Culture and Structure. The problem I had this week is about the assessment. We need to do a lot reading and I need to understand the article even though I do not know the world.
- 4 Week Four/Week Date: 28/10/2019-01/11/2019
This week we had a Mid-team exam which remind me how much more I need to learn. In the organisation behaviour class, we learned some theory about leadership and motivation. Motivation theory includes Herzberg’s two-factor Theory, Maslow’s Need Theory and Mayo management theory and so on. Leadership theory are . We also discussed about the Great Man theory, behaviour theory and so on . Those theory can help me to understand the meaning of leadership and motivation deeper and see the difference between each leadership. In addition, we are still working on assessment. So what we learned from the class can also help us to write the assessment.
- 5 Week Five/Week Date: 04/11/2019-08/11/2019
This week our main task is the Organisational Behaviour assessment. This Sunday is the deadline so we are working very hard. However, I am still struggling with that but through the assessment, I can improve my knowledge, also can use conjunction and adjust the structure much better in the article. Furthermore, we still have another essay called reflect on the differences of education. I believe after the assessment, we can handle better on the essay. In addition, last week we had an exam, and I am not satisfied for the result. My listening is only 35% and most of the fault is my spelling. This is a really basic problem, I need to conquer it. I can practice every day to improve the spelling problem. Overall, I am more and more fit in this study environment.
- 6 Week Six/Week Date: 11/11/2019-15/11/2019
We submitted the Organisational Behaviour assessment this week so we can focus on the Essay and group presentation. Studying in the group with other people who I am not close to is a new thing for us. People are all different, have different studying style and opinions. Luckily, our group members are working well so far. Even though we have different duties but we still commutate to each other all the time. In addition, in the final English exam, the listening and reading will be Everyday English, so we are practice the Everyday English in the English class this week. For example, we were learning the heathy through TED, that is really useful and help us to fit in the local English environment.
- 7 Week Seven/Week Date: 18/11/2019-22/11/2019
This week we have two main tasks, group presentation and essay. Our group presentation topic is about Royal Bank Scotland falling in 2009. We did a lot research to understand how that happened. Meanwhile we learned something from this case. The essay is about the difference between China and Britain education and to reflect to independent study. According to the society and culture, I understand the difference between this two country, those two education system are doing the right thing but I think the world is developing fast. China need to change some idea to suit the world style. For example, focus on develop children ability and give children more freedom of their thoughts.
- 8 Week eight/Week Date: 18/11/2019-22/11/2019
This is the last week of this course. We are working on group presentation, individual report and reflection essay. Mainly just improving the essay and report. Ana practice the group presentation. Luckily, I been writing the individual report on time, so I can catch what teacher said and now I am just improving the report. That is very help me to slow down and have enough time to write it. In addition, group presentation is a big step for me. This is not something can show by report, it also has to do with individual abilities. We need to present in front of people. That is very challenge but I think I just need to keep practice and I will make it . It also good for me in the future when I am working. Overall, in this last week of this course, I can say that I have adapted to the learning style here. For example, independent studying it is helpful, it can expanding the way I am thinking and be more innovation. I will keep study hard next team.
2.1 Week One/Week Date: 13/01/2020-17/01/2020
As the first week of our second term, I am happy to be back class and satisfied with the term one results. However, I am also very nervous about what is coming to us.
Firstly, we have two different subjects. Which are Researching Project and Strategic Thinking. Those two subjects also bring us a 5000 words essay and a group presentation. The good part is we can choose the topic of essay, so we can be looking for something that we are interested in. Secondly, English class and Postgraduate Skills Development class stays the same. We need to create a website about our self which I think it’s a good practice for our future job. We are also going to have a English exam in the end of this term, so I need to pay more attention on my English skills.
2.2 Week Two/Week Date: 20/01/2020-24/01/2020
This is the second week of term two. I am back to studying officially, started to go to the library. In the English class, we are practicing the writing and reading every week and I think that is very helpful. I start to write the word down that I didn’t understand. Moreover, I started to do my research. The topic is about the western culture. I need to read a lot and understand it then I can write it down by my own words. Meanwhile I also need to work on our group work which our company is Aldi. Compared last term, what we need to find this term are much deeper. We need to analyze the situation such like finical, competition, PESTEL. However, that also help us to understand the whole company more.
2.3 Week Three/Week Date: 27/01/2020-31/01/2020
According to this week plan, I have been working on our group work mainly. It is a lot different than last term. Last term we are only analyze the conflict of the organisation. But this term we need to go deeper and further which I found it is very difficult. However if I understood what the teacher said, I can mostly finish the work. Furthermore, we are going to have a mid-term English test by next week so I hope it will go well. In addition, I also been read a lot resource about my topic which is western culture. I feel lucky that I choose this topic because I always want to read and not get bored. And that will encourage me to keep working on it.
2.4 Week Four/Week Date: 03/02/2020-07/02/2020
This week is the half of this term already. We had English mid-term exam. I do not know the result yet, hopefully I can be better than last term. Moreover, in the strategic thinking class, we learned Boston Matrix, Product Life Cycle and strategic analysis and so on. The deeper I learned the more I understood more about how business working. And more importantly is how to be successful which I suddenly understand the point of learning this class. In addition, in the research thinking class. As the name of this class, we are not just doing the research, we are doing research and thinking together. Don’t just believe what the research show, we need to think why. And this is more than just a subject, it is also a very useful skill for us in the future.
2.5 Week Five/Week Date: 10/02/2020-14/02/2020
I finished a lot work in this week which are English exam, my own website and group report. The English exam is better than I expected, especially in the speaking exam, I was really relax. Moreover, the group report is the hardest one. I need to analyze the strategy of Aldi which I need to do a lot research and think deeper and creatively. So I feel very proud when I finished. The website is a new thing for me, I was stuck in the beginning but once I get started, it just going good as well. However, we still have many work to do and I need to keep working hard so in the end of this term I do not have to rush and can get a good score.
2.6 Week Six/Week Date: 17/02/2020-21/02/2020
I received many feedback this week which are English exam and strategic thinking. My reading and writing improved from last term which I am really happy about that, however, I still need to working on it because I only got 50%, I need to get 65% in total. Our group report got 58 score. I want a higher score, so we are still working on it. Meanwhile, we started to write individual report which is 1500 words and we need to submit it by next week. In addition, I am almost done with my website, just need few changes. It wasn’t difficult as I thought. And I am happy that I got another new skill. Furthermore, I am going to few clubs in the university. I feel my life is just stuck at the moment, I don’t have chance to meet new people and talk to them, so maybe joining some clubs will be a good idea.
2.7 Week Seven/Week Date: 24/02/2020-28/02/2020
We have last two week to finish in this term. The English exam is very soon and others course work is due soon too. It is a busy work. I went to the library almost every day even in the weekend. If I finish the work early I can have time to check it enough to submit. In the strategy thinking class, we started to write a business strategy for our company, our group company is Aldi. And my strategy is Product Development. Therefore, I need to think about a whole business strategy for it. And that expand my mind a lot, I need to thinking everything of this plan just like I am the real boss of this company. I think that is really helpful because it can make us think deeper and wilder of what we learned.
2.8 Week Eight/Week Date: 02/03/2020-06/03/2020
This is the last week of this term. Time is so quick. This term is quite different from last term. The report is more difficult and we got English exam. Anyway, I think my English got improved compared from last term. My reading and writing are much better now even though I still need to work hard on it. The group report is more difficult but we learned more and that’s really helpful for our future. Moreover, we finished a part of the research thinking and we need to write the rest of it in next term, I think we will be alright. Overall, I think I learned many things this term and I improved a lot in many things. Hope next term will be better and hope my writing and reading will be better as well.
